a wrestler who finished in the national top 8
face/babyface
a wrestler who is always cheered for, often known as the hero of the story; opposite of heel
heel
a wrestler who is always booed at, often known as the villain of the story; opposite of face
job
a losing wrestling match
jobber
a wrestler who is almost always defeated in wrestling matches
juice
blood used for effect
kayfabe
staying in character, keeping the illusion that the in-ring events are real. supposedly derived from the pig latin pronunciation of the word "fake" ("akefay").
monster heel
a heel that is comparitively more violent than a normal heel
mouthpiece
a manager who does most of the speaking for the wrestler
promotion
a company that regularly puts on professional wrestling matches
rasslin'
a slang term used to specifically refer to the southern style of wrestling, which features an emphasis on kayfabe and stiffness, with less squash matches and oftentimes longer feuds
rib
a joke or prank played on other wrestlers
ribber
a wrestler who is known for goofy/humorous antics
squash
a match wherein a wrestler defeats their opponent using minimal effort, most often within a short amount of time; used frequently to progress a storyline rather than to portray real wrestling
tweener
a wrestler who is neither a true heel or a true face; morally gray, like an anti-hero or anti-villain. short for "betweener"
wrestler's court
a type of "court" where issues are discussed among wrestlers behind the scenes
